Calawah
Basics
The 2020 Forest Action Plan identified the Calawah as a priority landscape based on analyses that identified an over abundance of mid-seral forest structure and high values for timber volume, above ground biomass and carbon storage potential, ecosystems of concern, and fish and wildlife habitat. A majority of this landscape is in federal ownership, and in 2010 the Olympic National Forest selected the Calawah River watershed as its focus watershed for the Washington Coast basin. Just west of the federal land within this priority landscape lies the town of Forks, Washington.
