Integrated forest health project
Project intent is to implement a set of treatments that rely on the principles of landscape and stand-level restoration ecology while meeting current direction. Of the 105,288 acre watershed area, approximately 20,563 acres are on NFS lands. Project decision authorizes overstory harvest treatments on up to 7,664 acres, non-commercial understory treatments on up to 9,260 acres outside of overstory treatment, and prescribed burning (including underburning and pile burning) on up to 19,568 acres with additional maintenance burning at a 10 to 15-year interval. Project also includes aquatic organism passage, road maintenance and restoration, and fence construction around Haley Meadow.
